A bright and vibrant interior was the desire of the clients when they decided to call upon architects to transform their two-bedroom apartment into a three-bedroom one.
In 65 square meters, they managed to create a comfortable layout, taking into account the ergonomics and lifestyle of the family members, maximizing every available centimeter.
The beneficiaries, a young couple with a small child, dreamed of more space in their two-bedroom apartment and better storage organization.
Following the partitioning proposed by the designer they hired, Polina Marchenko, the bedroom space was reduced to make room for a closed dressing room, accessible from the bedroom, and a small storage room, accessible from the hallway.
The kitchen was enlarged and integrated into a common living-dining-kitchen area. Although it appears compact, the kitchen is extremely functional.
It was designed with special attention to every centimeter; to maximize the available space, all suspended cabinets were made tall, up to the 2.60-meter ceiling limit.
Having a limited budget, they used few decorations. As an accent in the living room, three-dimensional decorative panels were proposed, which create the optical illusion of a spacious area. The child's room, the largest and brightest, is enhanced by the cheerful wallpaper and pleasant shades of violet. The bunk bed was even made by the little one's father.
Regarding the color palette, the designer tells us that everything started from the mustard yellow shade of the sofa.
“Mustard yellow appeared in one of the first stylistic proposals at the beginning of the design process and somehow, everyone fell in love with it immediately.”
Later, the entire chromatic concept was built around this color. To highlight it, it was contrasted with the shade of blue proposed for the living room wall. The rest of the furniture was conceived in light, warm shades.
From the beginning, the designers' suggestion was to create a neutral decor, as an optimal background for strong and bold color accents (the yellow sofa in the living room and the suspended kitchen cabinets, colorful decorative objects).
The stylistic accent in furnishing this home was placed on the use of single-color spots, without overloading the space with many textures and patterns.
Thanks to the attention paid to partitioning and the chromatic choices made, the apartment appears airy and more spacious; at the same time, it ensures sufficient storage spaces.
