Casa Moya Moya is located in Tokyo's Higashikurume neighborhood and was created by the Phenomenon studio under the signature of architect Fumihiko Sano. The building was constructed for a woman who needed a space to carry out her activities of creating and painting kimono patterns.
The house is raised on two levels and is clad in two layers of stainless steel mesh to create an effect that gives the illusion of movement, while protecting it from the sun's rays and providing privacy and security for the owners.
It is also known as the "Perforated House" because the steel mesh surrounding the building leaves a fairly large space between it and the building wall and offers complete visibility only in front of the balcony and doors. The support of the curtain around the house is done with the help of a metal frame.
The main entrance is positioned in front of a small parking area and leads to the living room. This is the artist's creation space, with a very large sink and space for painting kimonos.
Sliding doors connect the kitchen to the studio room, which leads directly to the master bedroom, while the living room is located upstairs, accompanied by several other bedrooms, a bathroom, and a traditional Japanese room.
The architecture and design of the building are very modern and minimalist, with little furniture and neutral colors creating the sensation that the place is uninhabited. The only elements that bring color to life are the green of the mattresses and the red of the kitchen floor.
