“The Bubble House”, located on the Côte d'Azur, in the small resort town of Tourrettes-sur-Loup, France, is a true gem of modern architecture, so much appreciated that it almost rivals the fame of its owner, the world-renowned fashion designer and owner of perfume lines, watches, and other luxury items, Pierre Cardin.
Although only 36 years old, The Bubble House is an excellent example of an eccentric house, designed to stand out against the backdrop of luxury prevalent throughout the Côte d'Azur.
Given that it is not yet finished, it is a true honor for Pierre Cardin that his residence has already been labeled as a historical monument in the French cultural heritage by the French Minister of Culture.
The design of Pierre Cardin's house was conceived in the 1970s by Hungarian architect Antti Lovag, intended to be an extravagant building, specific to futurism, but at the same time it has an organic touch, with many pieces of furniture incorporated into the interior, created in oval shapes and with convex windows.
The idea of the Hungarian architect was to maximize the use of the volcanic landscape of the Côte d'Azur, and the windows of this completely unique house offer a breathtaking view over the Mediterranean Sea.
Considering the complexity of the materials used and the styles implemented, and taking into account that this construction began in the 1970s when technology was far below what it can offer today, we can say without a doubt that Pierre Cardin's residence is an architectural masterpiece, still under construction.
The design of “The Bubble House” is appreciated by the hundreds of thousands of tourists who pass through this resort town annually, making it one of the tourist attractions for which people come to the area.
