Romania has once again made international headlines thanks to a bold project spearheaded by the Eco Stuff Association, which successfully built the world's largest bridge entirely from PET bottles.

Timisoara is making history once again. After being the first European city with electric street lighting, it now boasts the world's largest bridge made from 104,502 plastic bottles, providing a crossing over the Bega River.

Representatives of the Eco Stuff Romania Association and Timisoara volunteers who participated in this project have built a unique bridge in the world, both in terms of design and the number of recycled PET bottles used in its construction.

The bridge is located on the Bega River, behind the Metropolitan Cathedral, and its inauguration was attended by the Mayor of Timisoara.

This is a new premiere for Timisoara. We hope to enter the Guinness Book with it because this bridge was built with over 100,000 PET bottles. The previous record was 40,000. And we didn't just build a bridge, but a kind of walkway. A lot of hard work went into it. It's a very interesting project.

Beyond the performance, the fact is that we wanted to send a signal to citizens to collect these PET bottles and hand them in. It's a shame to pollute our waters or throw them away elsewhere," said Nicolae Robu, the municipality representative.
