The idea for a smartphone charger made from a computer fan mounted on a bicycle handlebar came to a Romanian teenager. He aimed to make life easier for cyclists by helping them convert the wind energy produced while riding into energy for their phone batteries.

Tamás Imets is 16 years old and lives in Miercurea Ciuc. He is a student in the 9th grade at Liceul de Arte “Nagy István”, where he studies visual arts and architecture.

Tamás is a convinced cyclist, and this was the starting point for creating such a device. He saw a similar charger on online store websites, but the rather high price led him to try reproducing it using leftovers and circuit parts that didn't cost very much.

The parts needed to build such a device cost approximately 20 lei.
