In 2020, during the full pandemic, when all apartment dwellers dreamed of a "house on the ground with a small yard", #Elis Pavaje organized the competition "Win a courtyard makeover worth 14,000 lei!".
Not by chance, the story of Teodora Migdalovici, from Bucharest, the winner of the competition, had a similar path. Although she had lived in a beautiful space in a recently built condominium for a short time, the lockdown determined her to take heart and start renovating an old house inherited from her grandparents. The motivation? "The house served as a pretext for the yard.
Last year, the whole planet switched to "work from home".
Since I work in a creative field where the space where you think and feel influences the final result, it is essential for me to feel good "at the office", and if the office can be a magical terrace with paving stones that have the beauty of a stone carpet, with lush plants, comfortable sofas and a vibe full of inspiration, even better.
So, after a year of dramas with successive teams of workers and a budget that exceeded all predictability, I made the switch between the loft and life in the yard. What a joy it was to win the #Elis Pavaje competition. The experience was equivalent to "the light at the end of the tunnel," declared the beneficiary.
In selecting the paving stones, I opted for Conic Antico and Maris Antico, two products from Elis Pavaje's premium range. Their subtle elegance and versatility of installation won me over. Although I like contemporary spaces and geometries, I chose Maris and Conic as a tribute to my grandparents and the period of the '60s when the house was initially built.
The two models had a perfect calibration between "the past" and "the present", which I liked very much.
The competition "Win a courtyard makeover worth 14,000 lei!" had almost 1500 participants. The selection was made in two stages: the first, by drawing lots via random.org, of 10 applications. The second stage involved the evaluation of the ten entries by a jury of specialists.
Teodora's arguments and photographs, speaking about her desire to save a space with great emotional value from decline, about the renovation adventures, budget holes and the dream of creating a dream garden with areas for work and reverie during the pandemic, convinced the jury.
