If you love houseplants but sometimes forget to water them, a smart planter could be very helpful. It's called Parrot Pot and is the latest invention in this field.
Parrot is known primarily for its drones, and this year it presented at CES an intelligent planter designed to make life easier for plant owners who spend little time at home and are passionate about gadgets.
The Parrot Pot smart planter looks like a normal planter, but it has a water reservoir, sensors, and a Bluetooth connection that allows it to connect to a mobile device such as a smartphone or tablet.
If you have a home automation hub, the smart planter can connect to it, allowing you to include it in a larger program so that it can water itself. This way, when you're away on vacation, you won't have to worry about your plants, or you'll be able to water them remotely.

From the dedicated app, which can be downloaded from Google Play or App Store, the user selects the type of plant in the planter (from over 8000 varieties), and the app controls the watering process according to its needs.
Sensors measure soil moisture, content, temperature, and light levels, and the smart planter pumps water to water the plant and alerts the user when the water reservoir is empty.
The smart planter looks like a normal planter and can accommodate a medium-sized plant. Its price has not yet been set, but it is estimated to be available for purchase by mid-year.
