India, this subcontinent nation with the world's second largest population, can now boast the largest and most expensive family home on the globe. This immense dwelling was built in Mumbai and is nicknamed “Greenest of All Buildings”.
Approximately two years ago, the first photographs of this house, which was under construction at the time, sparked a real debate in the architectural world, with opinions divided into two completely different camps: those who embrace this project and applaud the initiative and those who consider the house a true failure that should not have even been designed.
The family home in Mumbai measures a height of 173 m and has 27 floors and a total area of 36,975 sq m! This construction is certainly impressive, and considering that it is a family residence, we can safely say that it will not be matched anytime soon.
Antilla, which is the official name of this building, was built for the richest man in India, Mukesh Ambani, who paid 1 billion dollars for this residence where he lives with his wife and their three children.
Antilla has been harshly criticized for the owners' grandiosity, being considered a living example of consumerism and waste of funds and resources that could have been used for other purposes in one of the countries facing an extremely poor population, such as India.
