The Vice President of the United Arab Emirates, sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid has announced that the world's first temperature-controlled city will be built in Dubai. The 4.5 million square meter project called "mall of the world" will contain the world's largest shopping mall and an indoor theme park covered by a retractable glass dome that opens during the winter months.
This gigantic mall will also have a wellness center, a cultural celebration district, and 20,000 hotel rooms. Once completed, this project is expected to receive around 180 million visitors annually, making it a year-round destination for people of all ages.
visioned as an integrated pedestrian city, seven kilometers of promenades connect the design bringing together a wide range of leisure, shopping, and accommodation options under one roof.
At its heart will be a cultural district and a theater. "Celebration walk" was modeled after Barcelona's famous street, La Ramblas, and will link this district to conference areas, wedding venues, and various celebration spaces.
Another component of the mall is a 270,000 square meter wellness district offering rejuvenation and maintenance services, high-quality medical assistance, and cosmetic surgery.
Sheikh Mohammed explained: "The growth of family tourism and shopping creates the need for Dubai to develop its tourism infrastructure as soon as possible. This project helps us in our plan to transform Dubai into a cultural, tourist, and economic hub for the 2 billion people living in the surrounding region.
The mall will be built using cutting-edge technology to reduce energy consumption and carbon footprint, ensuring high levels of environmental sustainability and operational efficiency.
