If you have a pet and need to go on vacation, you have two options: take it with you or leave it in someone else's care. Each option has advantages and requires preparation. Here's what you need to do to avoid problems.
If you take your animal with you
By car: Make sure the animal has a transport cage or a special harness. Don't leave it free in the car, it can be dangerous. Take regular breaks for water and exercise.
By plane: Check the airline's rules. Some allow small animals in the cabin, others require transportation in the hold. You will need a pet passport and up-to-date vaccinations.
By train/bus: Not all companies allow animals. Inform yourself before buying tickets.
Prepare your animal's bag
Food and water for the trip
A comfortable transport cage
Its favorite toy to calm it down
Blanket or pillow with the smell of home
Medication (if necessary)
Accommodation at the vacation spot
Check if the hotel or accommodation accepts animals.
Create a safe space for it where it can feel comfortable.
Be careful about the rules: don't leave it free in unknown places without a leash.
