It is said that nothing compares to the feeling of home. And to illustrate this idea, we are going today on a visit to Constanta, where we will learn the story of a fine interior design project carried out by architect Alexandru Bucur and his team from Interiology.
Open the Gallery We are talking about a villa purchased in 2015, with an area of approximately 230 square meters and a layout on ground floor, first floor and attic. It is the dream house that this family has always wanted, with a small courtyard and terrace, close to the sea shore, a place suitable for their needs and where they can welcome their numerous guests who visit them.
The house was initially furnished by the previous owners. After purchasing it, the family decided to call upon the services of a professional to help them shape their dream home.
“Many ideas crystallized during the design process,” Alexandru tells us. “I often do this in my projects: I let myself be influenced by the space I am about to design, highlighting what I believe is worth preserving and rectifying what is wrong.” The doors, window frames and staircase, all dark in color, were kept from the old design, influencing the choice of future colors.
Thus, we have accents of black, a gray-toned parquet and touches of gold-greenish.
The decor was shaped in a classic, elegant style, represented by moldings, cornices and decorative plasterwork, as well as wrought iron consoles with matte gold accents.
The owners were actively involved in the project, participating in all phases of the construction site, in decisions, in choosing materials, visiting many suppliers in Bucharest. “In this way they helped me understand their wishes better and thus resulted in a design from which they felt they were part of and which represents them,” Alexandru adds.
The layout was almost completely redesigned. The ground floor, a large open space, was dysfunctional. The dining area in the kitchen with the television very close to this area left unused spaces and created unfortunate circulations. Hence the acute need for redesign.
Great importance was given to the dining room, now designed as a stand-alone function, with a large table for 12 people, as the family is often visited by relatives and friends. The chandelier and the overhead shelf, accentuated with decorative paint, as well as the painting with a marine motif (made by Anca Suiugan) enhance this space.
At the same time, a breakfast nook was kept in the kitchen, high, with bar stools. Configured in an L-shape, the kitchen design is a modern one, with built-in appliances to create a visual unity. The warm color palette makes it appear as an oasis of light in the context of the chromaticism used throughout the rest of the design.
