The M. House in Cluj Napoca, designed by architects Madalina Bakos and Manuela Furdui, surprises with the contrast created between the adopted industrial style with glam and feminine accents and the warm, welcoming atmosphere.
The beneficiaries (a young family with a child), passionate about travel, wanted a welcoming and comfortable home while also following an industrial stylistic expression.
“One of the main requirements of the beneficiaries was the integration of their sand collection, which they wanted to see every day, representing a vivid memory of all the places visited in the last 15 years.” This piece of furniture was conceived as an exhibition system, made from aluminum sheet metal.
The owners have a dynamic lifestyle with a flexible schedule, “the entire layout follows these criteria which were at the basis of defining the functional and spatial organization scheme of the entire design.
Chromatically, we find many shades of gray, specific to the industrial style, the texture of concrete, all enhanced by wood in saturated tones (used for flooring and furniture) and accents of black and chrome.
The ground floor of the house corresponds to the living area, a generous open space where spaces communicate harmoniously with each other. The spacious kitchen is open to the living room area, the dining place, and the distribution hall, playing the role of unifying functionally and stylistically all areas of the ground floor.
The architects opted for warm light in the living area, creating a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere from various sources (general lighting, adjustable spotlights and fixed ones from the kitchen, linear spotlight system in the living room, accent lighting through the niche with LED strip in the kitchen area).
The master bedroom, located on the first floor, continues the stylistic expression of the living area, adding a bit more refinement and comfort through the materials and finishes proposed by the architects. The single, green shade of the washable paint used on the walls and ceiling of the bedroom adds an extra touch of elegance to the room and shifts the focus to the details of the furniture pieces.
