We all dream of a vacation home to spend our weekends in a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere with family or friends. The ideal location for such a cottage could be nowhere else but on the edge of a lake, surrounded by forests. We will further present the refurbishment of a rustic vacation home.
Located on an island in Vancouver, the abandoned house was in a deplorable state. Composed of three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a living room, the cabin needed major improvements quickly.
The exterior of the house was reconditioned and repainted. The windows were replaced with larger ones to allow more natural light to penetrate inside.
The cedar wood ceiling was preserved to continue the rustic idea in the decor and adding other wooden elements or similar to the texture of wood.
To create more space in the house and for added brightness, the wall between the kitchen and living room was removed. The large bedroom was divided into two smaller bedrooms with a connecting window between them. The rustic cabin style is maintained in these rooms as well.
The kitchen cabinets were outdated, so they were replaced with new ones that imitated the cedar wood structure along with a stainless steel countertop and original decorative elements.
The veranda is the owners' favorite spot. It offers a superb view of the lake and forest. The entire aspect of the newly renovated vacation home integrates perfectly into nature both through its exterior and interior with various wooden elements.
