Old buildings gain new value in the contemporary era. What was abandoned and left to oblivion can be transformed into something modern, useful, and practical, like this ancient lighthouse in Florence that has been transformed into a modern, chic, and perfectly habitable apartment.

The work of the architects who carried out this project was not easy at all. Integrating the old into a new structure often proves to be a difficult task, but the final aesthetic effect brings a special air to the project.

Originally a Renaissance lighthouse, the newly renovated structure now houses a luxurious and exclusive apartment. With only 65 square meters of usable space, the apartment is structured on two levels, offering a wonderful view towards the middle of the city. The narrow structure of the lighthouse forced the architects to adapt the space in order to maximize every available location.

Although the exterior has not undergone major changes, the interior is completely redesigned in neutral, smooth, elegant colors.

The contrast between the dark-colored floors, the exposed beams in the living room and the metallic structure of the stairs and various accessories adds texture to the apartment.

Large windows ensure a sufficient amount of natural light and ventilation. Moreover, the terrace is an attraction point of the apartment which extends like a lounge continuing the living room. It is a place of maximum interest from where you can best admire the view over the city.

Every detail has been carefully thought out, all furniture parts and utilities being perfectly integrated into the narrow and high space. The result is a modern, elegant, and refined apartment suitable for young, active couples who love meeting with friends.
