Natural or artificial, light is an important factor that influences our activities, emotional state and even health. According to specialists, natural light is the most suitable for the organism's health, therefore the house should be arranged so as to receive as much sunlight as possible.

Regarding artificial light in a house, it must be chosen according to the type of room and its purpose.

Regarding the purpose of lighting fixtures in a house, these are for general lighting, which illuminates the entire room (usually installed on the ceiling), punctual or accent lighting that highlights certain objects, furniture or to illuminate only a specific space (spotlights installed on the shelves of a bookcase, lamp next to the armchair for reading, devices that illuminate stairs) and ambient lighting which is used to give a certain atmosphere to a room.

When installing lighting fixtures, you need to consider that you need to have adequate light for the type of room and the type of activity you are carrying out in it.

Thus, in the kitchen you will have more lighting fixtures due to the large number of points of interest and activities carried out. The kitchen countertop, i.e. the work area, must be lit separately, for example by spotlights placed above it, immediately under the suspended furniture. Also, the cooking area itself, the stove or hob, needs separate lighting.

If meals are also taken here, then this area will be highlighted by a pendant light fixture.

After ensuring general lighting in the living room, delimit the main areas of the room. In the area where you read, use warm light, as close to natural light as possible, an adjustable lamp so that you can change its position. Suitable for the living room is also ambient lighting which you can use when watching a movie.

To highlight certain decorative elements, such as a painting, use accent lighting. In this case, the light source does not necessarily have to be visible, and you can even create spectacular effects by positioning the lamp or spotlight behind the object you want to highlight.

In the bathroom, there are not so many light sources, but do not limit yourself to just one. For shaving or applying makeup, it is recommended to complement the general lighting with dedicated lighting. The best method for illuminating a mirror is from above and on both sides. Mirror lighting should project light onto the face to eliminate all shadows.

The bathtub or shower can also be lit by diffused light, specially designed for humid spaces.
