The path of beautiful renovations leads us today to Sighisoara where we meet Simona Ungurean and a wonderful house we fell in love with immediately. Sit comfortably in your chair and let yourself be inspired by everything you will see in this design.

Deschide GaleriaCasa belongs to a family with 3 children. After completing the construction, they wanted to hire an interior designer to furnish it, but they were unable to find anything locally. Forced to move as soon as possible, they chose to decorate the basic areas, the kitchen and bedrooms, themselves, leaving the rest of the house for the near future.

The designer's searches continued until they met Simona. They established a plan and decided she would handle the furnishing of the living room, hallway, and some modifications in the kitchen and bedrooms, where they felt minor changes were needed.

The living room design started from scratch; there were only the beams and the ceramic flooring that imitated wood. Based on this foundation and taking into account the beneficiaries' wishes, Simona focused on creating a classically inspired décor.

Being a large family, they desired a generous dining space, as well as an area for conversation and space to set up a library. We redesigned the ceiling light fixtures, repositioning them according to the newly created zones. Regarding the television, we opted to place it above the dining table.

Being at a considerable distance from the couches and having a rather large design, watching television is comfortable. Behind it, I created a black upholstered panel that continues into the bench. I chose black to be in the same tone as the television and not distract attention.

The library cabinets are made of spruce wood paint and were custom-made by Szelmob.

To create a unified and coherent design, Simona chose turquoise drapes, the same shade found on the bookcase. For the drapes, we came up with an ingenious two-sided proposal: one side turquoise and the other beige. This way, depending on the season, they can be rotated to adapt the decor to the time of year, turquoise in summer and beige in winter.

I followed the same approach with the decorative pillowcases on the couches, creating red backup covers for the holiday season or whenever they'd like a change of décor.

Wood and turquoise make a great home together in this design. To balance the tones, Simona used white and neutrals like cream or beige, which make the room seem brighter, more welcoming, and warmer.

The hallway is quite spacious. The family wanted a coat rack with storage space, as they didn't want clutter at the entrance to their home. Additionally, they needed a place where the children could sit while putting on their shoes. We designed a functional wardrobe with storage on all sides, featuring a bench in the middle.
