Lavinia, a cheerful and spontaneous young woman passionate about painting and interior design, recently completed the renovation project of her own home. We loved her original ideas and asked her to tell us more about her new house.
Tell us a few words about the apartment
Its surface area is 58 square meters, including the balcony. I wanted it to be in a new building and as close to the metro as possible (Lavinia lives in Bucharest). The search lasted about 2 months. I wanted it to be a two-room apartment and I would have preferred to find one with a more square kitchen.
Initially, I didn't like the glass wall and I thought it would be a good idea to cover it; later I changed my mind. The arrangement took about 3 months.
How did you envision the layout? What did you want for the living room?
I wanted to have a cheerful house that represents me. From the beginning, I thought of combining the color of the kitchen with that of the living room and the most suitable combination that came to my mind was turquoise with green. I chose a light shade of blue because I wanted it to be a calm space, but with personality.
Dark blue and gray were chosen to eliminate monotony and energize the space. I also considered the color of the parquet and the doors, a neutral wood tone (these finishes already existed in the apartment).
I ordered the sofa from Casa2000 because I liked the model with drawers inserted on the sides, and I chose the fabric color when I placed the order (an indigo-denim).
For the bookcase, I didn't want anything too complicated. I wanted it to not frame the television in a square and to have storage space as well. I chose modular units from Lems and I did the arrangement in the room myself.
The coffee table gave me a hard time. I wanted a combination of wood and glass to make the transition to the furniture, a link between the glass wall and the furniture. I found a model I liked at Praktiker. For the same reason, I also chose the chandelier for the living room (due to the wood inserts).
I bought the lighting fixtures for the living room, balcony, bedroom and bathroom from lustre-online.ro. The curtains were also very difficult to find. I saw this color in a picture, but all I could find were shades of blue or turquoise, but usually darker. I looked for them to be in tune with the wallpaper on the opposite wall. I found them at the SIR store (Lujerului area).
I found the wallpaper at Dedeman and, considering the pattern, I chose a similar one for the sofa cushions.
The large armchair next to the furniture unit was intended for reading space, only that I have to find a suitable lamp that brings light from top to bottom. It's very dear to me, being a gift from my sister. And of course it's all blue.
And the clock framed by the two wallpaper strips is something I really wanted. I had only seen the model in pictures and couldn't order it. Luckily, a friend found it and gave it to me as a housewarming gift.
