This two-bedroom apartment is located in a villa in Bucharest and belongs to a young couple who desired a modern and comfortable home. The villa that houses this apartment was built by the occupants themselves; the owner runs a construction company, and this villa was the company's first major project.
The apartment has a total area of 140 square meters, more than half of which is occupied by the terrace. Therefore, every aspect of the construction was carefully controlled for optimal space configuration, and the results are amazing: a fresh, comfortable, colorful home with an interior design that reflects the vibrant personality of its owners.
Mirela, the owner of this apartment, told us about the interior design that "we started furnishing around November 2009 and we really wanted to welcome the new year here. We succeeded, although it was a bit against the clock. From then on dates the furnishing of the bedroom and dressing/office space, the bathroom, the kitchen furniture, and the terrace.
Instead, the way the living room looks (from colors to furniture) and a change of look in the kitchen (to match the new living room) were done in 2014.
The motivation for the renovation was my husband's desire to install a projection system (we are both big movie buffs). And since we were already tearing down walls for the new cables, we made other changes as well, such as the wall color and new furniture in the living room.
The terrace is the highlight of this apartment. The floor is covered with Relazzo profiles from REHAU, which are durable and have a very pleasant appearance. The flooring inside the apartment is entirely covered with tiles for easier cleaning and because it has a pleasing aesthetic.
When designing my bathroom, I really wanted furniture (bathtub, sink and toilet) made of Corian, which is a very durable and easy-to-maintain material. I saw the design on a website from Italy and, with some difficulty, managed to convince the craftsmen who worked with Corian in Romania to take on this project.
Yes, with emotions and deadline challenges, it turned out well in the end, Mirela told us regarding the selection of objects for decorating the bathroom.
To add color to the walls of the living room, hallway, and kitchen, washable paint from Benjamin Moore was used. Above the kitchen countertop, colored glass from Hornbach was installed, which complements the style of the living room well.
The furniture was made at Norvinia according to the owners' specifications, with Blum accessories added, purchased directly from the distributor. The appliances are from Gorenje, Ora-Ito superior design range.
The living room sofas are from Elvila (as is the bedroom bed), the dining table is from Kare, and the coffee table is from Vivre (as is the cheerful armchair in the entrance hall). The rest of the furniture (chairs, coat rack, wardrobe, dressers, nightstands) was purchased from IKEA.
